Pro-life activist, Lauren Handy, shared these pictures to Facebook and allowed me to reproduce them here. They were taken at the Delta abortion mill, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which had closed unexpectedly after years of protests by pro-lifers.

The images are punctuated by text taken from AbortionDocs.org., which describes some of the charges made against abortionists at this facility.

Witness Affidavits from four former Delta Clinic employees, July 1999: Each sworn witness describes similar personal observations of filthy, unsterile, and dangerous conditions at the Delta Clinic. Multiple witnesses describe clinic personnel using rusty, blood-stained instruments in abortion procedures. Witnesses also describe being disturbed at the standard clinic practice of reusing “single use only” equipment on multiple patients instead of discarding it after each procedure. In addition, multiple witnesses describe unlicensed clinic staff illegally administering drugs, and constant problems with overmedicated patients and botched abortion procedures.

From Lauren: “The blood stain on the floor is from when the garbage disposal overflowed from grinding up babies. It left the stain even after prolifers tried to clean it up.”

June 17, 2010 – ADF attorneys ask that the Department of Health and Hospitals shut down the Delta Clinic in Baton Rouge, based on findings that the facility’s actions created the substantial possibility of serious harm or death to patients.

The exception or the rule?

It might be tempting to look at these pictures and think that this low standard applies only to one particular abortion facility. Perhaps the mean, old pro-lifers are singling out one supplier of ‘reproductive health services’ and making the others look bad? But take a look at this video [below] from 2006: Mark Crutcher and Troy Newman are inspecting an abortion mill that closed only a couple of weeks prior, and shockingly, had been approved by the National Abortion Federation only the previous year. There are many similarities between the abortion facility in the pictures above, and in the video below. And incidentally, they both have a lot in common with the business run by the notorious Kermit Gosnell.

Lauren Handy has a theory about why abortion mills are consistently dirty and dingy:

“Honestly I think it’s because the violence had become so normalized to them they don’t realize how wrong it looks to outsiders. Kinda like how people with bad depression don’t realize how bad their room or house has gotten until someone tells them”
