Transgender Ideology and Grooming in Perth's Catholic schools

Written by

It's a case of 'same-old-same-old' - the same gender ideology, the same emphasis on early sexual experimentation, the same undermining of parental authority that is found in the perverted Safe-Schools programme (and in the version favoured by Catholic schools: Building Respectful Relationships), has made its way into the school, apparently without knowledge of the staff. This comes at the same time as the state is experiencing a fivefold increase in the number of children wanting to transition to the opposite sex.

Transitioning in Grade 1

The craze for all things LGBTIQ that is sweeping Australia's east coast is also quite evident in the West. Students at a Catholic school in Perth were shocked to discover that their 6-year-old classmate, who last year had been a boy, returned to school this year as a girl. The child commenced Grade 1 this year in a dress and ponytail, without any forewarning to other students from the school's staff. Parents of other children at the school have expressed concern about how this child's 'transitioning' will impact on policies for bathrooms and change rooms. Rev. Dr. Joseph Parkinson, an ethicist who advises staff in Catholic schools on gender dysphoria, stated that a child of six is unlikely to suffer from that condition. He said:

“Gender variance in little children is not unusual and is not particularly serious and it usually just goes away. Six is not unusually young for kids to cross-dress. It normally passes and the literature says that almost none of these kids are transgender.”

However, it would seem that allowing a boy to dress as a girl at school would do nothing to gently nurture that child's true sexual identity, but rather to confirm him in his assumed identity. This case comes as the number of children being referred to Perth's Princess Margaret Hospital has increased in recent years from 25 per year to 125 a year. So from where exactly are children getting the idea that a boy can become a girl and a girl can become a boy? In some cases, parents are the ones pushing their children into questioning their gender and then transitioning, but as we've explained in many other articles (see here and here and here) schools are also ramming this kind of rot down the throats of innocent children - and it isn't only state-run schools that are responsible.

Case Study: Perth Catholic High School

At least one Catholic high school in Perth is using the same kind of gender-bending, sexualised content found in the Victorian Safe Schools programme, and which has been the subject of hot debate across the nation. A concerned parent sent me sections of a textbook for Year 9 Health and PE students which contains detailed information about contraception, teenage pregnancy, STIs, anal and oral sex, and how to communicate with prospective sexual partners. The parent wrote:

The thing to point out is that this is a custom book published by MacMillan Press via a site they call Flexibooks.  This service allows organisations to build their own text books.  They can look at a list of subjects and just add them to their book template.  I wonder how many schools have done this without even bothering to look at what the content really is.

This parent went to the school as soon as she saw what her child was to be exposed to. She told me that the teacher and principal were horrified and had no idea of the textbook's content.

So what's in it?

While the text mentions that abstinence is a valid choice, there is no mention of the moral implications of choosing to be sexually active outside of marriage, or of the Catholic Church's prohibition on this and on the use of artificial contraception. There is also a worrying section on discrimination, consent and sexual harassment which is clearly aimed at brainwashing young people into thinking that men are the main perpetrators of sexual and other forms of abuse. And when the word 'consent' is discussed, it is never in the context of the age of consent: 14 years of age is clearly below the legal age of consent in Australia. Throughout the course, students are given various sexual scenarios and then asked to suggest appropriate forms of contraception, dialogue or action they feel should be taken. [Characters in the scenarios include a boy who enjoys giving oral sex, another who prefers sex without a condom, teens who want to start having sex with their partners, and boys who regularly get drunk then engage in casual sex.] Another part states that there are four main forms of sexual identity: heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual and asexual, but that sexuality most likely exists 'on a spectrum'. That phrase alone should set off alarm bells - it means that this highly sexualised school curriculum has its roots in the work of sexual deviant, Alfred Kinsey. [If you're not familiar with Kinsey, see my article: Are Pedophiles Writing your Child's Curriculum?]. As with the section on contraception, there is no reference made either to explicit Catholic teaching on sexuality or to a more general Christian view. In fact, there is no mention of God, Scripture or any form of morality (save for one's individual feelings) in the entire text. Rather, there is a section devoted to 'homophobia' and how wrong it is to criticise another's chosen sexual expression.

Deceptive links

Throughout the text, there are links in this format: flexibooks.com.au/w/387, which students are encouraged to use for more information on the topics. While the urls appear to be related to other Flexibooks content, they in fact redirect to various websites which aren't related to the Flexibooks company. For example, the link given above will take students to the US-based "Gender Spectrum" website, to a page on 'coming out', and how to deal with family, legal rights etc. Other links take students to further information on contraception and Gardasil, and to Family Planning Australia, Headspace and Reach Out (LGBTI-affirming organisations), and to the Vic Health website, One link explains in detail how to have sex for the first time. All this is aimed at 14 year-old children. It is nothing other than grooming.

Take heart and have courage

Parents, stories like these should serve to make us even more vigilant about the content of our children's curriculum. In particular, I urge you to check if your child is using books from the MacMillan Press 'Flexibooks' range. If you discover anything inappropriate, you must be prepared to take action: whether that be to confront school staff, or if necessary, remove your child/ren from a school and perhaps even educate them at home. Remember that we have a God-given mandate to be our children's first educators - if we don't use it, we'll lose this authority and allow our innocent children to be fed to the wolves. There is no job outside the home that's more important than our job inside the home - which is, to protect our children and to safeguard their innocence.
