The latest QLD abortion law reform effort was introduced on 22 August 2018, by the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Yvette  D'Ath. This is the third such attempt to decriminalise abortion in the state in recent years. Organisations and individuals, including medical professionals, counsellors, and members of the public made submissions to a government-appointed committee, which will evaluate them and release a report on October 5th. The bill will then be debated in mid-October.

Misinformation Driving Legislation

When we allow dominant discourses based on misinformation to drive legislative change, nobody wins. Abortion advocates in Queensland are again pushing for decriminalisation based on a lot of myth and very little fact.  The way in which the media allows this inaccurate portrayal of abortion is a sign of how low we’ve sunk in completely dismissing the evidence and the actual experiences of women. This article highlights a few of the very misleading tactics of the pro-abortion lobby in pushing an agenda that doesn’t serve the needs of women at all.

That Was the Day I Died Inside

Hillary Kieft is a mother and prolife activist from New Zealand. Hillary underwent an abortion as a teenager - a decision she now regrets with all her heart. But the spectre of abortion again struck her family in a heart-wrenching way, many years later, and led her to initiate the call for parents to be informed of the medical procedures provided to their children by schools. Abortion is not, in any way, an ordinary medical procedure. But school officials treated it as such and this led Hillary's daughter to the brink of despair. In this testimony, which was Hillary's submission to the NZ Law Commission, she addresses Jacinda Arden. Prime Minister of New Zealand, who although pro-abortion, is expecting her first child.

[With the Tasmanian elections to be held in just over a week, voters are doing their due diligence in order to make a moral choice at the polls. That task is quite difficult, given that abortion is part of the platform of two major parties, and permanently pencilled-in by the third.

Babies - Free Game in Under 100 Words!

Like a bottle of spilt ink, Queensland is poised to be tainted with darkness if Member for Cairns Rob Pyne’s abortion bill is voted into law in February/March 2017. Seems there’s not enough “death to the unborn” for some people and the evil tentacles spreading the deadly deception of abortion came to our Sunshine State in the form of a bill of far less than 100 words. In fact, when one looked to find the details of his first bill, the Abortion Law Reform (Woman's Right to Choose) Amendment Bill 2016, you could be forgiven for thinking that you had somehow missed it, it had so few words but the consequences of this bill could be dire. The bill called for the repealing of Sections 224, 225 and 226 of the Queensland Criminal Code. These sections state it is illegal for anyone to try or succeed in procuring an abortion (whether or not the woman is actually pregnant), and illegal for anyone to actually perform an abortion whether by instruments, medication or poison to achieve the same result – a dead preborn baby.
